Health Benefits (MMAP) Counselors

 

The Michigan Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) exists to assist Medicare and 

Medicaid beneficiaries in accessing services and answering questions related to Medicare and Medicaid.  Free counseling services are offered to beneficiaries and are provided by Volunteer Counselors. 

 

MMAP Volunteer Counselors are:

 

                     ®  Trained and supported by local MMAP Coordinators 

                               ®  Committed to helping others by using patience and good listening skills 

                               ®  Individuals who like to solve puzzles and research issues they need to know more about

                               ®  Willing to go the extra mile to help someone else 

                               ®  Competent computer users  - like “surfing the web”

                               ®  Willing to complete the required paperwork and ask for help 

 

 

The Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Michigan (AAANM) coordinates the MMAP program in the following counties:  Antrim, Benzie, Charlevoix, Emmet, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, Manistee, Missaukee and Wexford.  Volunteers are needed in several of these counties.
