Mission Statement
The Mission of the Grand Traverse County Commission on Aging
is to improve the quality of life for resident senior citizens.
Benefits
The Commission on Aging provides services that help senior
citizens remain living in their own homes. These services enhance the quality
of life and offer greater safety to those we serve. Services also assist
family members and friends in caring for an older adult.
To qualify for services: A person must be 60 years of age or
older, a resident of Grand Traverse County, and demonstrate a physical need for
assistance. Some programs have additional requirements.
Commission on Aging Funding: Funding for the Commission on Aging
is provided by a Grand Traverse County millage, private donations, fees, and
local grants.
Charitable Giving: Those wishing to make a charitable gift to the
Commission on Aging may send contributions directly to the Commission on Aging
office or donate to the Commission's Endowment fund at the grand Traverse
Regional Community Foundation.
Governance: The Commission on Aging is governed by a
fifteen-member volunteer board of directors. Board meetings are held the first
Tuesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. and are open to the public. Call
922-4688 for dates, location, and agenda information.
