HOME
Home is Traverse City, Michigan, and The Senior Corner is a service of the Traverse Area District Library. Since you can always
recognize Michiganians by the way they use the back of their left hand as a map, suffice it to say that we are at
the base of the little
finger.
ARTICLES
A
bank of articles on varied subjects: grandparenting, senior health issues, personal safety,
home businesses for supplemental income, swindlers who prey on seniors, etc. Be
sure not to miss the monthly Social Security
Newsletter from District Manager Bob Simpson.
LOCAL
INFO
In addition to local and regional
information, you'll also find
Michigan-wide senior resources in this section.
This is what libraries and The Senior Corner are
all about-- storing and distributing information. This section is a gold mine of resources
available to seniors in Traverse City and the northwest counties of Michigan. There is a marvelous,
detailed 118 item guide to senior resources, including counseling, financial help, food,
health, housing, legal aid, nursing or respite care, transportation, etc. There is an online,
anonymous "client interview" which will zero in on your specific needs. There are
connections to local newspapers, libraries, various Senior Centers, city bureaus, and so on. If you
live or work in this area or if you are contemplating moving here, you must visit this
section to see what's available to seniors.

National and international resources which focus on seniors and
their needs. You'll find easy connections to huge amounts of information: federal
agencies, consumer groups, senior e-zines, physical and mental health websites, grief
resources, amusing and instructive diversions, and much more. There's also a nifty search
engine if you don't find what you're looking for.
